Continuing Damage of the BP Oil Spill
June 24th, 2010When an explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig created an oil gusher on April 20, it certainly wasn’t good news, but no one at the time had any idea just how bad this situation would turn out to be. Estimations as to the amount of oil that is spewing from the underwater well are increased every day. Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where the numbers and predictions aren’t getting any better. Another baffling problem of this disaster is the time it is taking to stop the leak. A number of attempts have been made to plug up the well; some creative ideas have included using old tires and hair to clog it up. A few attempts have showed some potential, but nothing has succeeded yet. We’re only a few days away from the two month mark, and the oil is still spewing. Read more…
