Darren Stephens

Darren is the leader of Topaz Power Group which started in 2004 as a joint venture between Sempra Energy and Carlyle/Riverstone with the purchase of nine power plants in Texas. In 2006, Darren and his team help realized the sale of two coal and four of the gas and oil generating facilities for over $1.5 Billion. Darren, who holds an engineering degree from Union College, is now leading Topaz in the development and asset management of three Texas natural-gas fired plants and one North Carolina based biomass co-generation plant. With
18 years of experience in the Energy Industry, Darren has vast expertise in developing power projects, power and gas purchase and sale agreements, operations and maintenance, project management, and implementing strategic change initiatives. Darren is a natural leader with an exceptional environmental and safety ethic as well as strong presentation, facilitation, problem solving and project management skills.
