Jim Robo is the president and chief operating officer of FPL Group, Inc., (NYSE:FPL), one of the nation’s leading electricity-related services companies. Florida Power & Light Company is FPL Group’s principal subsidiary and serves 4.4 million customer accounts. FPL is one of the largest electric utilities in the nation. Its other major subsidiary, FPL Energy, LLC is one of the fastest growing competitive energy suppliers in the nation with a presence in 24 states, and is the U.S. leader in renewable energy generation. Mr. Robo joined FPL Group as vice president of corporate development and strategy in March 2002. A few months later, he was appointed president of FPL Energy.
Prior to joining FPL Group, Mr. Robo was president and chief executive officer of a major division at GE Capital. Before that, Jim was chairman and CEO of GE Mexico and was a member of the GE corporate development team. Prior to joining GE, he was vice president of Strategic Planning Associates, a management consulting firm.
Mr. Robo received a BA degree Summa cum Laude from Harvard College in 1984 and his MBA in 1988 from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
